We started the week with our annual service of celebration on the Sunday evening, which was fairly well attended. The service was lead by the Rev Ann Dunn and the Rev Ada Whitock, the President the Mayor reading the lesson. On the Monday we had a Lifeboat and Coastguard Helicopter display at the Nothe, followed by live music, a B-B-Q and childrens entertainment. On the Wednesday we had another rescue display with the Lifeboats and Coastguard Helicopter at Bowleaze Cove. Both the Monday and the Wednesday displays attracted a large number of spectators. On the Thursday we held a B-B-Q at Weymouth Sailing Club which again was well attended. Saturday was our open day which was a success with over 650 people actually going aboard our ALB (all weather lifeboat). The weather was kind to us and all in all the week was a success, we must thank Andy (the coxswain) Hefin (the mechanic) and all the Crew for giving their time, not forgetting all the helpers and those who supported the events. |
